Jim Smith

Elder – Children’s Ministry

Jim Smith has served as a Lay Elder at Grace Bible Church of Marysville since 2021, having first come to Grace with his family in 2006 after moving to Marysville from Southern California. He provides leadership to a variety of Grace ministries, including the Children’s ministry, an Adult Fellowship Group, the Usher/Host/Security ministry, and online sermon “Wednesday Watch Party” ministry. He serves as a teacher and table leader in the GraceLife Adult Fellowship ministry, as a back-up teacher and table leader in the Faithful Men ministry, and as a back-up teacher in the Fundamentals of the Faith class. He also handles a variety of administrative tasks for Grace, including worship service announcements, church social media, legal advice to the Elder Board, and serves as the Board Treasurer.

 

Jim graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Western Washington University, and a Juris Doctor degree from Western State University College of Law. After serving in law enforcement after college, he later served as a public safety labor law attorney in California and Washington State and is currently the operations leader for a corporate investigations function at a large global company.

 

Jim and his wife (and high school sweetheart), Jenny, have two adult daughters, Morgan and Taryn, son-in-law, Bryson, and their first grandbaby on the way.
